GRAND HYATT
LUXURY IN THE LION CITY
OVERVIEW
GRAND HYATT SINGAPORE is located on Scotts Road near the corner of Orchard Road and that puts it downtown near many attractions and facilities. The local subway (called the MRT) is a two minute walk from the hotel. It will get you anywhere in the city as well as to the airport. I got one of their cards which you can load with cash at any station entrance and you can easily walk to many venues close to the hotel as well. That is always my preference when staying anywhere in the world. As many of my readers know, for me, its all about convenience.
THE HOTEL AND ROOMS
Wonderful marble and wood great the weary traveller in the main lobby which is filled with fine shops and some restaurants which are known for excellent cuisine. When you wonder through the halls to the back of the hotel there is a huge outdoor waterfall surrounded by lush tropical gardens.
The first room I was given, a standard lounge level King, was nice but had some noise issues. One of the things I love about Grand Hyatts is there Managers attention to customer satisfaction. I like to build a personal rapport with the staff and managers so everyone is aware of my personal requirements. I was immediately upgraded to a two storey loft style suite at the other end of the hallway which opened up directly to the Grand Club Lounge. The suite included a board room and a kitchenette along with the large and comfortable quarters. A nice touch was the towel art presented by the very talented housekeeping staff who kept the room immaculate. The bedroom had the softest and most comfy hotel robe I’ve ever enjoyed. The ladies will love it!
THE GRAND CLUB
One of the top features of GRAND HYATT’S https://grand.hyatt.com are their lounges. I’m a big fan of the food and drinks they offer throughout the day and evening, as well as the friendly staff and concierge who are happy to assist you with all your needs. I’ve never been a big breakfast fan and usually prefer light fare to start the day but, after tasting what was available in the morning, I became a big fan of getting up and heading straight for the lounge. You must try the made to order omelette which seemed to be a club favourite. In the evening they serve canapés with assorted wine and spirits that are sure to meet your expectations and satisfy any cravings.
THE POOL AND SPA
Even though you are in the heart of downtown Singapore you won’t know it at the back of this hotel which features tropical garden seating, waterfalls, and pool surrounded be lush greenery and flowers. Also in this section is access to the gym and spa where you can get a steam, sauna, hot tub and massage after your workout in a nicely equipped gym. Go for a dip and relax pool side before you head out to explore or take care of business.
THE DEBRIEF
If your looking for 5 star convenience in the heart of the city and close to many venues as well as local transportation, the GRAND HYATT SINGAPORE is an easy choice. I found the staff incredibly accommodating, the rooms comfortable and clean, the food and drinks offering abundant and of high quality. It’s one of those hotels that you could spend an entire day in since everything you need is on location. My only critique is the lack of balconies for the rooms which is a personal preference and seems to be lacking in a lot of their properties of the Asia Pacific region.
