THE BRIEF
After enjoying the (see my review) VIRGIN AUSTRALIA LOUNGE a boarding announcement for Virgin Australia MEL to OOL was made. I used the Priority Exit Hall to access a separate Priority Screening line for Virgin Australia passengers. The line moved smoothly even though extra security measures were in place. Out in the domestic hall, I found gate 4 was very handy to the lounge and security area.
I came to the gate early enough to get the first spot in the PRIORITY BOARDING LINE. I find this helps in ensuring that I get the bin that is assigned to the seat for my carry on. The bins are extra large in this section. It was easy to fit my bags and hat in. I made myself at home in seat 2D. The seat comes with a comfortable 37 inches of pitch and 19.5 inches of width. The only annoyance with the aisle seats were a box that restricted foot room under the seat in front of you.
The Virgin Australia Business Class 737’s features a nice little barrier rope that serves to separate the 8 seat class upfront and it’s Lav from the larger economy class behind. Another very nice offering is free WiFi onboard. Unfortunately, it didn’t work during the entire flight.
I had a very good, and healthy I might add, salad and dessert for lunch. This was accompanied by a thoroughly delightful Pinot Noir from New Zealand called “MUD HOUSE”.
THE DEBRIEF
I normally avoid the 737 aircraft, and as avid readers know, will not fly the 737 MAX if it returns to the sky. That being said, Virgin Australia does a good job of making it as pleasant as possible. The service was excellent, and the food and wine were very good. The seats were comfortable for a two-hour flight. The price on this leg was reasonable.
