FINE ITALIAN DINING

ALIOLI RISTORANTE

THE BRIEF

Not very long ago I wanted to host a dinner party for some friends and thought that everyone would be happy with Italian victuals. Fortunately, I had one restaurant in mind within walking distance of my residence. I had eaten there many times in the past and discovered it by accident during visits for other business at the office building it’s located in. The ALIOLI eatery started operations in 1996 and since then has garnered a loyal following.

The main dining area has seats for 100 folks and the patio has 60. There is an extensive wine list covering 200 labels and most of the fine Italian fare comes from Tuscany. Their chef says Linguine Pescatore is the top seller and its done in a lemon, white creme sauce. There is much much more on offer as well. We chose to dine on the patio which was nicely appointed and had built-in heaters for the chilly October climate. It was very comfortable none the less and was a preferred area during the COVID pandemic.

We started off by ordering a bottle of Chardonnay from California and a bottle of Merlot (La Palma, Viña La Rosa) from Chile. Then it was time to order. Two of us had the Lamb and the others ordered Spaghetti Seafood, Lasagna, and one Salmon dish. When I questioned each of my guests for their thoughts, all were in agreement, the food was spectacular. I had the roasted rack of lamb crusted with grainy mustard, pistachio, and rosemary port wine reduction. It was succulent and cooked to perfection. Magnifico! The sample PDF MENU has a nice number of selections to choose from, and really, you can’t go wrong.

THE DEBRIEF

I have no negative comments to make on Alioli. The food was excellent, the service was very good, and the atmosphere is friendly and cheerful here. It helps when the owners are there cooking and serving as well. The outdoor patio is heated and very comfortable, even during this time of the year when November starts to bite (at the time of writing a new lockdown took effect and restaurants were closed). I thought the prices were reasonable and ranged between 10 and 45 dollars.

👍👍👍
