THE BRIEF
I got to the airport a bit early and decided to take a look at UNITED’S CLUB LOUNGE. It’s located in the Diamond Head Concourse of Terminal 2 at the DANIEL K. INOUYE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (HNL). Take the escalator by Gates G2 and G3 up to Level 3, and you will see the sign pointing to the glass doors for entry.

As I entered the lounge, my first impression was that this facility had some neat and unique features on display. From the etched glass door entrance to the statue displayed in the corner, not to mention the retro seats and the painting of Hawaiian flowers, you’re given the feeling that this lounge is a bit different from all the rest.

It’s a kind of nouveau Hawaiian theme that greets you when you walk through the sliding doors. The staff was very friendly and welcoming as well.

The lounge had very few people in it, and there was ample seating for a small facility like this. It’s nice when a lounge overlooks the ramp and runway environment. My B777 was waiting for me just outside the windows.

There is an assortment of hot and cold dishes obtainable at the food island and that is followed by the hot and cold drinks, and then finally, the bar area.

THE DEBRIEF
I found the United Lounge a very pleasant experience, and I wish that I could have spent more time there. I’ll keep that in mind for my next trip out of HNL. It’s a very comfortable place to wait for your flight. To access a United Club Lounge, you will need one of the following…
- Flying United Polaris business class within the U.S., transcontinental business class or international business class.
- Flying business or first class on a Star Alliance partner airline.
- Star Alliance Gold membership or status.
- United Club member.
- Holder of a United Club one-time.
- Active U.S. military personnel.
- Air Canada Maple Leaf Club member
- Amtrak Guest Rewards Select Plus or Select Executive member.
👍👍👍
Wow, that’s a terrible experience then. I’ve been in plenty of overcrowded lounges and it’s always been aggravating. I must have been there at a good time of the day.
I agree though. There should be a lot more options at HNL.
I’ve tried this club 3 times now, and have NEVER been able to get a seat. It appears there is no control inside. Short of arguing with someone who has their luggage on seats, I have found this club impossible to find seating. Unfortunately for me, I fly this route monthly and I have given up.
