One of the highlights of staying at the GRAND HYATT MELBOURNE is enjoying the best night club in Australia, THE SPICE MARKET, located on the lower floor of the hotel.  The club entrance is off Russel Street on colourful Beaney Lane inviting you to with a beautifully painted mural of street art and graffiti by Bailer and Heesco. I found myself spending at least part of the evening at the Spice Market when they were open to the public on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

It opened in November of 2008 and has a capacity to accommodate 700 guests. Spice Market offers a wide range of versatile options for private functions and events. The venue is available for functions, whether during normal trading hours or at times outside regular trading.

Spice Market is an energized and undeniably dazzling themed bar and lounge situated in the Melbourne CBD and has a design taking inspiration from the ancient “Spice Route” it has an exotic South East Asian feel with Middle Eastern influences. Synonymous with exquisite style, charm and sophistication, innovative Melbourne restaurateurs Geremy & Dean Lucas welcome you to Spice Market, their unique bar, lounge and nightlife venue.

From their impressive collection of antiques, artifacts and works of art, and their Mezze Menu and Craft Cocktails, to their always smiling and beautiful Spice Girls, Spice Market like the Ancient Spice Route once travelled by traders of old from Asia Minor to the Far East, is ready to take you on a very special journey…. and remember – “The Journey is the Reward”.

THE DEBRIEF

The Spice Market is a unique Night Club that took many years of development to craft into the current milieu. The owners go to great lengths in making sure it is a comfortable location for all ages to come and unwind after the day is done.

Complimenting an extensive drink offering is a wonderful MEZZE MENU  to nibble on. I’ve tried the charcuterie board and wagyu beef sliders. There both succulent offerings to enjoy. Each night has a different theme. There’s Ladies Night Thursdays, IPO Fridays, and Stylish Saturdays. They all have special offerings for that particular night.

Every Friday and Saturday, “The Ultimate Cocktail Master Class” is open. This 2-hour experience includes drinks on arrival, followed by cocktail lessons from Spice Market’s expert Cocktail Mixologist, who will teach you first hand the secrets of successfully making three of Spice Market’s signature cocktails (you will make, shake and drink all three).
