SILVERKRIS LOUNGE MELBOURNE
OVERVIEW

I was on the red eye from Melbourne’s Tullamarine Airport and had some time before the flight to relax in Singapore Air’s SILVERKRIS LOUNGE. The lounge is located in Terminal 2 by Gate 6. You need to go downstairs to reach it and many of the other airline lounges. The lounge opens up 3 hours before the flight departs which can be a problem if you have a long layover. I got there and many people were lined up waiting to get in.

As you enter you will see an entrance for First Class on the left (seating 25) and Business Class on the right (seating 75). When I asked for a plug converter I was rudely told to hand over my boarding pass which I would get back in return for the plug (guilty till proven innocent). It’s a small lounge with no windows other than those that look out to the arrival hall. The seats are comfortable but a little close together and overhearing others conversations is common since the lounge is busy. There is a small business centre available for those working on the go.
FOOD AND DRINKS

I found the drinks selection a bit sparse but adequate as was the food offering. Just snacks at this hour to mediate the alcohol I assume. Veggies and fruit was appreciated and there is a choice of wines, spirits, and beer. Tea and coffee were at the end of the counter. There was some hot food on display as well.

THE DEBRIEF
I found this lounge to be comfortable and better than nothing for a 3 hour wait or less. It’s not really up to Singapore Airlines usual standard in my humble opinion and is in need of an upgrade and hopefully a change of location in Terminal 2 (windows with a view maybe).
