OVERVIEW

The Toronto Harbour Commission building was created back in 1917. The classic architecture of the period was retained as the lower levels were transformed to reflect the modern opulence of this classic steakhouse in the late 1990s.  The clientele of this establishment range from affluent businessmen to casual diners as well as formal to semi-formal groups. There’s a beautiful bar section where you can grab a quick lunch or dine in the evening and in the lower level an extensive section features a huge wine rack. The tables and seats are comfortable and spread throughout the restaurant. If you prefer alfresco dining an outdoor patio is provided at the rear entrance and is very well equipped.

FOOD AND SERVICE

I had reserved a particular table to host my dinner party and we were promptly escorted to it and seated. The waiter was knowledgable and courteous and brought out the appetizers shortly after we got comfortable. Oysters Rockefeller are a tradition when I dine and the offering here did not disappoint. It was so good we had to ask for the recipe.  We had a long look at the extensive menu and wine list and ordered a smattering of many different dishes that we wanted to share amongst us. The presentation was marvellous. The “Seafood Tower” was huge and easily accommodated all six of us at the table. The steak’s were cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth. The seafood was fresh and succulent. For the finale a melody of deserts were selected. The Molten Chocolate Cake and Gelato with Sorbet were delicious. All around the dining area the tables were erupting with small flames from the Baked Alaska’s which were very popular options. Exquisite!
