THE preflight
Finishing up a very pleasant experience in THE NEW EMIRATES BUSINESS LOUNGE ( great service…they call when your flight is boarding here) I made my way down to the gate in order to enjoy priority boarding of EMIRATES FLIGHT 405 (https://www.emirates.com/english/) I was one of the first to board and quickly made my way to seat 7K. After storing my gear I decided to scout around the cabin and take a few pictures before settling in for taxi and take off.
THE CABIN
EMIRATES FLIGHT 405 seats are wide and comfortable and your station is nicely finished and equipped with plenty of audio/visual aids to keep you occupied as well as inflight power for personal toys. The pitch is 48 inches and width is a respectable 18.5 inches. I love the 1-2-1 configuration. Perfect for single travellers who dislike other passengers crawling over top of them and prefer some privacy. Seat 7K is too close to the infant station for my liking and I ended up moving to the back where 21J was wide open. It also has the bonus of being steps away from a stand up bar in the back of business. Nice touch! For you scotch lovers the selection includes 18 year old Chivas Regal. The bartender informed me that first class serves 25 year old. Outstanding!
THE flight
It’s hard to find a smoother and quieter aircraft for a long flight than an A380 by AIRBUS Service on EMIRATES FLIGHT 405 was very good right from the pre-taxi champagne. We were off on schedule and got busy with the menu selection.
There is a good selection of juices, soft drinks, and a variety of teas and coffees available. The two dozen cocktails will keep you happy or choose from the selection of fine spirits ( including my 18 year old Chivas). Dinner features regionally inspired menus, including healthy options, all presented on Royal Doulton fine bone china with exclusive Robert Welch cutlery. Enjoy multiple courses and complimentary champagne and vintage wines, along with other cocktails and beverages.
After the meal I decided to give work a rest and investigate the stand up bar. It’s a nice break to be able and stand for a bit while chatting with the other passengers and in the lounge they offer hot and cold snacks, sandwiches, and sweets for your anytime pleasure.
the debrief
EMIRATES FLIGHT 405 was excellent. On time service, good cabin crew, and fine food and drink are the recipe for success in the airline biz and Emirates has got it. As avid readers know Emirates Airlines (http://www.emirates.com) is one of my go to airlines along with Singapore Air (http://www.singaporeair.com) and Eva Air (http://www.evaair.com).
