EMIRATES NEW BUSINESS LOUNGE MELBOURNE
OVERVIEW
The New Emirates Business Lounge (www.emirates.com) is located in the International Terminal at Melbourne’s Tullamarine Airport by Gate 10 on Level 3. I arrived early Saturday evening for the flight and spent a couple of hours relaxing in Emirates Business Lounge. I’ve read reports that claim this facility gets overcrowded but, I found no evidence of this during my stay. There were a handful of people moving in and out for their flights. There are enough seats to accommodate more than 200 travellers. It was bright, spacious, and very comfortable. I also found remarkably and pleasantly quiet. If you want to sit back and read a book or catch up on the papers from back home, this is the lounge for you.
THE FOOD AND DRINKS
There is a buffet style food area that also contains the bar and drinks. A smaller bar is also located at the other end of the lounge where more seating and large screen TV’s are located along with the washrooms. The food was excellent for a business lounge. All offerings were Halal of course and included salmon, lamb, chicken, roast potatoes, curried rice, salads and fruit. Very healthy! It’s extremely encouraging to see more and more airlines and hotels offering nutritious and healthy foods as I travel the world these days. A good selection of red and white wines were on display along with an assortment of spirits, champagne, and beers.
THE DEBRIEF
The New Emirates Business Lounge at Melbourne Airport is a delight. This fresh, clean, modern space is business lounge done right. As with most things Emirates, they pay attention to detail and quality. You won’t find a lounge like this at one of the North American Carriers who predominately offer just a place to “park it for a while. If you do a lot of connecting flights with long layovers, this is the kind of lounge you hope is waiting for you to take in the break. From the moment you check in at the counter to the time of departure you feel your being treated like the professional you are. The Captain gives this one three thumbs up. 👍👍 👍
